The penetration rate of LED TV in 2011 has been around 42%, which is far less than the optimistic expectation among venders in early 2011. With this weak global economy, price has become the major concern for consumer purchase. In addition, the penetration rate of LCD TV in matured markets (Europe, US, Japan) has been approaching the peak such that emerging markets will become the next targets of all vendors. Therefore, entering 2012, it has become a major topic for all vendors to consider how to enhance the purchase willingness for LED models. The further cost-down resulted from reduced backlight brightness and simplified use of materials seems to become the common target of efforts among all vendors.
