  • New! Vizio introduces 5.1 channel 50" PDP TV "Jive"

    2008/05/08
Although Vizio is viewed as a Tier 2 player in the North America market, with sales reaching the likes of the premier brand vendors, it continues to add new innovative technology to its TV products. In 2008, it has introduced the 120Hz FHD Black Tie series LCD TV, the VP504F, which uses a Silicon Optix HQV, and added the 32" PDP with HD resolution to its plasma lineup. Its latest JV50P, which was showcased during CES 2008, provides 5.1 channel surround sound. The model is already being retailed through outlets such as Costco and Sears. ...

  • LG unveils flagship LG60 Scarlet TV in May

    2008/05/02
For its new Scarlet LG60, LG mounted a huge and rather unconventional marketing campaign. Instead of promoting the new TV line, "Scarlet" was advertised as a new TV series. The project, which took 3 months to complete, featured Natassia Malthe as the leading actress. By taking a look at the posters and trailer, there was no mention whatsoever of the LG60. It wasn’t until the screening of "Scarlet" did the public finally realize "Scarlet" was actually a series of LG’s latest TV models. ...

    2008/04/29
Samsung finally adopted a simpler naming method for its LCD TVs in 2008. Its product lineup now spans from the so-called Series 3 to Series 7, where the higher the number, the more functions and special features there are packed into the TV. The A450 (Series 4) is considered the cheapest LCD TVs that employ Samsung's proprietary DNle engine. ...

  • A TV where audio outperforms image quality---Sony launches its first integrated 5.1 ch. audio N4000 Series in North America

    2008/04/24
Sony recently made some changes to its LCD TV model names in US market. In 2008, excluding the XBR series, the names of all its new lineups in the North America market now end with the numbers 4000/4100 (for example V4100) instead of the previous 3000. In addition, in 2Q08, it added the N, M, and L series for its below 40" HD segment. In the past, Sony did not offer 37" models in North America. This has changed, due to a shift in Sony's panel procurement strategy. The 3 new series all belong to the entry-level segment, as none of them support Full HD. However, a key highlight of the N4000 focuses on the integrated 5.1 channel audio. ...
