Chi Mei's Tree Valley Park project passes environmental assessment, reports paper

The Tree Valley Park development project headed by Chi Mei Group recently has passed a governmental environmental assessment with the final results of the assessment to be officially confirmed during the next meeting to discuss the assessment, according to today's Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN). Chi Mei Forays into 50 inch class with launch of 52” DTL-752E600

Joining the likes of Sony and Sharp, ChiMei officially launched its 52” DTL-752E600 LCD TV in the Taiwan market in Oct07. This marks the first attempt by a Taiwan brand company in tapping this particular segment. Sporting the usual features now seen in high-end TVs, such as FHD and a wider color gamut, the DTL-752E600 is also equipped with a so-called ChroMAXα dual core image processor and relevant technology that can enhance the overall image texture and blackness level. Being the first Taiwan brand to jump on the 50”+ bandwagon, it is evident that ChiMei is seeking to gain a head start among other the other local players. LED takes aim at NB panel segment

NB panels illuminated by white LEDs seeing rapid growth
Beginning from 2H07, the pace of NB panels utilizing white LEDs for the light source has started to pick up. White LEDs render the panel to be thinner, lighter and more power saving, enabling even better NB portability. In addition, they are also “greener”. As consumers become more environmental-conscious, it has driven NB brand vendors to be more proactive in adopting the mercury-free LEDs. Apple computer has already announced that its future NB products will all be equipped with such light sources. WitsView unveils FHD street price survey: 40" wins the title of being the most premium-priced FHD TV; Japan enjoys highest FHD penetration

Based on WitsView's survey, the retail price of FHD LCD TVs were more than 10% higher than average models. The 40" FHD saw the largest difference, reaching 39%, an indication of the huge price gap between the 40" FHD and HD sets. In terms of market penetration, the highest occurred in Japan. The country was the only region to see a more than 50% penetration ratio in the 37~46 FHD segment... more
